Dr. Deng is Lecturer of the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong. Her teaching and research fields cover building technology, design management, heritage conservation, as well as mega-event led urban renewal and built legacies. During the course of her postdoctoral research at different institutions, she has been substantially involved in interdisciplinary collaborative research projects, knowledge exchange projects, and a major teaching development project. In addition, she played a key role in research funding applications including several awarded grants on built heritage. She has published in various international journals and co-authored professional articles and consultancy reports. She is the lead author of a Highly Commended Paper awarded by the Journal of Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management in 2014. Before embarking on her PhD studies, Katherine had enriched professional experience in designing major projects at domestic and overseas practices. She served as a senior design officer at the Headquarters of Expo 2010 Shanghai China and a special taskforce member in Japan for international design collaboration of key Expo legacies.
