Chan, Isabelle Y. S. 陳綺珊

Dr. Chan is Assistant Professor and Program Director of BSc (Surveying) in the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong. She is also the Chairman of the Institute of Safety and Health Practitioners, Hong Kong; Co-Chairman of the Associated Research Centres for the Urban Underground Space (ACUUS) – Youth Group (International); Joint Coordinator of Working Commission W112 – Culture in Construction, International Council for Research & Innovation in Building & Construction (CIB); Panel Member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel of the Planning and Lands Branch, Development Bureau, Government Secretariat, HKSAR; and Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Federation of Occupational Safety and Health Associations (HKFOSHA).

In addition to various best paper awards, Dr. Chan has awarded the Doris-Zimmern Hughes Hall Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Her research interests include underground developments and health, construction innovation, construction health and safety, stress management in construction, leadership, culture, sustainable development, and so on. In line with these research interests, she has successfully awarded various external and internal grants. The fruitful results of these projects were widely disseminated through books, international journals, conferences, workshops and seminars.

Principal-Investigator for the project entitled: ‘Review of Adoption of New Engineering Contract (NEC) in Public Works Projects in Hong Kong’ funded by Development Bureau (DEVB), HKSAR, 2019-20.

Co-Investigator for the project entitled: ‘Comparison of Practice in Construction Industry between Hong Kong and the Mainland’ funded by Development Bureau (DEVB), HKSAR, 2019-20.

Co-Principal Investigator for the project entitled: ‘A Review of the Current RISC (Request for Inspection and Survey Checking) Forms Mechanism in Hong Kong’ funded by Hong Kong Construction Association (HKCA), 2019-20.

Co-Principal Investigator for the project entitled: ‘Sustainable Development Worldwide: Assessment Standards, Policies & Costs of Green Commercial & Residential Buildings’ funded by Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), 2016-17.

Co-Investigator for the project entitled: ‘The Influence of National and Organizational Culture on Innovation in Facilities Management: Case study comparison of public healthcare organisations in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom’ under Seed Funding for Basic Research, HKU, 2016-2018.

Co-Investigator for the project entitled: ‘Learning and Teaching Professional Competence in the Built Environment using Serious Video Game Technology’ under TDG, HKU, 2015-17.
