Yin-Lun Chan is a landscape architect and urban historian. He received his PhD in Architectural History and Theory from The University of Hong Kong and Master of Landscape Architecture from The University of British Columbia. His dissertation, entitled ‘Cinema Architecture and the Entertainment Landscape,’ explores how the movie theatre acts as a site where popular culture and urban history intersects. Yin-Lun is also Chair of the Centre of Community Cultural Development (CCCD) and initiator of the Landscape Theatrics Troupe. His work revolves around the relationships between community arts and the city, and experiments with various methods of application. He has widely presented his research and artistic work in different places including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Canada, France, and Bangladesh. He is editor of The History of the Landscape Profession of Hong Kong, 1978–2015.
