Kerr, Alastair

Alastair Kerr is a specialist in heritage planning and historic resource evaluation.  He has a BA and an MA in art and architectural history from the University of Victoria.  Before his retirement in 2011, Kerr worked for the Canadian Heritage Branch of British Columbia, where he focused extensively on policy analysis and development, strategic planning, historic resource evaluation, historic site and heritage planning, heritage law, public consultation and participation programs, downtown revitalization, dispute resolution, and training.  He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Victoria’s Cultural Resource Management Program, and has served on the boards for the Society of the Study of Architecture in Canada, the Association for Preservation Technology, the International Council of Monuments and Sites Canada, the City of Victoria’s Heritage Advisory Committee, Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society, Victoria’s Downtown Advisory Committee, and the Victoria Civic Heritage Trust, where he is a past president.
