Oggioni, Chiara

Chiara Oggioni is an Italian registered architect, researcher and assistant lecturer in the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Since 2016, she has worked on a variety of research and design-build projects in Italy, Spain, Ecuador, India, China, and Mongolia with a focus on post-disaster reconstruction, participatory design, informal settlements’ upgrading and rural-urban transformations. Her research, design and film contributions with Rural Urban Framework at HKU include the exhibitions at Biennale di Venezia (2018, 2021) and CCA (2020).

She holds a BScArch and MArch from the Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI), Italy and a second Master in International Cooperation Sustainable Emergency Architecture from the International University of Catalonia (UIC), Barcelona.
While her background is primarily in architecture, much of her work uses filmmaking as a design tool to explore how the built environment influences our daily life and vice versa. Chiara is an ambassador member of Architecture-in-Development (A—D) and a feminist. Her current research looks into the spatial implications of women’s labour in the Greater Bay Area.
