ACP seeks students who, upon graduation, are able to commit to the advancement of built-heritage conservation in their home countries. The programme gives preference to applicants who are experienced professionals with present or future involvement in heritage-related projects of an educational, managerial or technical nature. In the past, students have come from the following fields:

Anthropology | Archaeology | Architecture | Building Construction | Education (tertiary and secondary) | Engineering | History | Journalism | Landscape Architecture | Law | Management (Building Project, Facilities, Property and Site) | Museum Curatorial| Property Development | Surveying (Building, General Practice and Quantity) | Urban Planning

A recognised undergraduate degree is required for application to the MSc(Conservation) programme. Strong proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory, and spoken ability in Chinese is an advantage, although not a necessity. The final selection of applicants is by means of an interview.
