iLab won Smart Logistics Gold Award at Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022 – Smart Mobility Award

The Remote e-Inspection System for Cross Border MiC Logistics, developed by Professor Wilson Lu, Director of iLab, together with Professor Anthony Yeh, Chair Professor of DUPAD, won Gold Award (Smart Logistics) at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022 – Smart Mobility Award. The project is supported by the HKU Estates Office, Paul Y. Engineering, and Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre, with funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) of the Hong Kong SAR Government.

The System is designed for smart, secured digitalised quality supply chain management with a focus on cross-border modular integrated construction (MiC) production and transport. It has been used in the construction of 1,224 hostel places of the HKU Wong Chuk Hang Student Residence, digitally assuring the quality of MiC modules that were produced in the Pearl River Delta and then transported to Hong Kong. The pioneering system reduces resources for supervision and paperwork, while ensuring tamper-proof data to help build houses faster and safer.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards was established in 2006 with the collaborative efforts of the industry, academia and the Government. It aims at recognising and promoting outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) inventions and applications, thereby encouraging innovation and excellence among Hong Kong’s ICT talent and enterprises in their constant pursuit of creative and better solutions to meet business and social needs.
