Gesa Schwantes, Conservation Laboratory Officer of the Architectural Conservation Programmes in the Department of Architecture was part of a conservation workshop in Mogao, Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China.
The 2 weeks workshop (10 September to 21 September) was part of the “Cave 465 Conservation Project” of the Dunhuang Academy in collaboration with the Swiss Isabel+Balz Baechi Foundation. Gesa Schwantes joined the workshop to continue the ongoing investigations of the Yuan Dynasty wall paintings in the cave. The project aim is to develop a suitable conservation plan for Cave 465 over the next years.
