Abstract

Countryside conservation and rural revitalization concern scholars and policy makers worldwide in search of new conceptualisations and new opportunities for multifunctional utilisation of rural places. Thus far, many innovative ideas and initiatives exist in valorizing place-based revitalization efforts across different jurisdictions and disciplines. Bringing together influential policy makers and researchers from Mainland China and Hong Kong, this symposium aims to galvanize public attention and inspire scholarly exploration into this important field. Through sharing research findings and best practices in different arenas and locales, this symposium is also expected to stimulate a concerted effort among researchers and policy makers to achieve a more coordinated and sustainable rural development.
