Transcending the point in time at which our architecture emerges and establishes a temporal link between past, present and future it is a fundament in our way of understanding architecture. An architecture that aspires to belong to a place, preserving its singularity but at the same time belong to all places.
Alberto Veiga will present the design approach and recent work by Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga.
Born in 1973, Alberto Veiga grew up in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Navarra. Between 2007 and 2010 he has been Professor at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona and in 2014 Visiting Professor at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia. He has taught and lectured worldwide at school of architecture in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Chile and Unites States.
In 2004 together with Fabrizio Barozzi he founded Barozzi/Veiga in Barcelona. Since the beginning, the office has been working internationally in public and private projects and his work has received several prestigious distinctions. His works have been distinguished with the Ajac Young Catalan Architect Award (2007), the Barbara Cappochin International Architecture Award (2011), and especially with the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture for the Best Debut Work (2012) for his project Ribera del Duero Headquarters. The office has also received the Young Talent of Italian Architecture Award (2013), the Design Vanguard Award (2014), the Fad International Award (2015) and the Life in Architecture Award (2015).
