About 60 per cent of the world’s population will live in cities by 2030. Cities play an important role in achieving the sustainable development goals called by the united nations. To make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable is one of 17 these goals. This lecture introduces the progress of research on making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable from the perspective of transportation. It also discusses the key areas in future research agenda of this field.
About the Speaker:
Professor ZHAO Pengjun is a professor in Urban and Regional Planning in the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University. He is also the Editor-in-Chief for Cities (Elsevier). He obtained his PhD degree and postdoctoral training in Spatial Planning at University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His research mostly focuses on sustainable transportation, smart city and spatial planning. He has more than 200 research outputs of which over 100 are articles in international peer-reviewed SSCI journals.
