As part of the Kuk Po Vision series, Kuk Po Forum invites scholars working on Hakka villages of Yan Chau Tong in Hong Kong’s northeast New Territories to share their experiences on the conservation and revitalization of Hong Kong’s rural architecture and landscape. With the reuse of the heritage building Kai Choi School as an exhibition and forum space, HKU Architecture is looking into innovative rural strategies for architecture, landscape and community around the Kuk Po Valley in Sha Tau Kok.
Exhibition of the Kuk Po Vision “Architecture, Landscape, and Community” displays the valley’s transformation of wetlands with its ecological diversity, the typological evolution of village houses and settlements, as well as the collective memory and aspirations of the community, with adjacent site installations of Field Theatre and Tidal Stool initiating dialogue with the mountain-fields and sea-tides of the Kok Po Valley.
