In response to the UN-IPCC call for carbon neutrality, member nations are tolling out one by one their target plans in the years to come. For some it is the Year 2060, but for most it is 2050. What are the specific challenges associated with this wave of sustainability pursuit that will need such a long time to achieve the goal? For policy and professional practice, what are the roles for those of us associated with land use planning and building industry? The lecture will address these issues especially in relation to the highly populated, dense development patterns in the Asian context.
