If you are interested in studying architecture and the Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies offered by HKU, don’t miss our “HKU Programme Deep-dive” session on May 12, 2020!

The teachers, students and graduates of the Department of Architecture will share with you what architectural studies is, why Hong Kong and HKU is a great place to study architecture, what’s the future after architecture studies, and answer other questions you might have about the subject, as well as about professional and career prospects!

Alumni Guest Speakers

Michael Headrick [BAAS ’14]

Michael Headrick is a Product Director for Huge Inc., a creative digital company creating new experiences through digital touchpoints. He is also the Founder of CO-RESIDENCY, a fully remote multi-disciplinary art residency that has a mission to support artists to create amid crisis and conflict.

Michael is interested in the power of digital technologies and experiences and the way they seep into every part of our lives. His architecture education provides critical tools to do his current work including: analysis of the body, journeys and experiences in space, and site and context-specific consideration. 

Yanchen Liu [BAAS ’12] 
Lecturer, CAFA School of Architecture (Beijing)

Yanchen Liu has been teaching at the School of Architecture, Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing since 2017. LIU graduated from the University of Hong Kong (BAAS) and Harvard Graduate School of Design (March I). She has also founded DustART Design Office in Beijing.  DustART works across the scales from public art projects to architecture and urban design, focuses on multi-disciplinary research related with art and art production. Her major works include The House of Walls in Beijing and Chongqing Yuelai Art Gallery.

Su Chang [BAAS ’13]
Lecturer, HKU Architecture

Su Chang is an architect based in Hong Kong. A graduate of HKU’s BAAS program, Chang obtained his master in architecture degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and gained practice experience in Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Chang also engages architecture as a cultural matter by way of writing, translating, and editing. Chang’s translation work for the Chinese edition of Spanish architect Iñaki Ábalos’s The Good Life: A Guided Visit to the Houses of Modernity was published by Luminocity, Tongji University Press (2019). A second collaborative translation project for Swiss architect Valerio Olgiati’s Non-Referential Architecture is currently under contract with Chinese Architecture and Building Press.

Eagle Wu [BAAS ’15]
Master Candidate, Sound Studies, Berlin University of Arts

Eagle Wu is a Hong Kong composer based in Berlin, currently studying in the Universität der Künste Berlin, Master of Arts (Sound Studies and Sonic Arts). Wu graduated from the University of Hong Kong in Architectural Studies, and the School of Music, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, major in Composition. He has received the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund, the Grantham Scholarship and the Best Interdisciplinary Projects 2018/19 for the sound installation and spatial musical piece “Re-Claim.” His piece “Link” has been selected to perform in “Music from the Heart 2017” by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
