Architecture as the Embodiment of an Opera—The Design and Operation of National Taichung Theater
This talk will cover Toyo Ito’s philosophy on architecture and his design of National Taichung Theater (NTT), as well as Artistic Director Victoria Wang’s vision for running the theater and how the content and software of the theater correspond to the design and purpose of the piece of architecture. As a new cradle for the performing arts with dedication to contemporary theatre arts and international network, NTT will serve as the only national level performing arts center in central Taiwan, and acts as artists’ base for dreams and ideas to be articulated. With a strong belief in the power of live performances, NTT will create a place to engage, advocate and connect, a space open to the public for arts and new lifestyle experience.
