Alessandra Cianchetta is an architect and founding partner of AWP AWILDC, an architecture practice based in New York, Paris and London. Born in Italy, she studied architecture at La Sapienza in Rome, ETSA Madrid, and ETSA Barcelona, before setting up AWP in 2008. Her recent projects include Poissy Galore, a museum and observatory set in a park along the Seine River near Paris; the Ten Streets Arts District in Liverpool; Field of Lines, an on-site installation for the Venice Biennale Architettura in 2021; and In-Land living, a series of art barns in Upstate New York. Her projects were nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009, 2015 and 2016. Her brainchild, Poissy Galore won the ArchiDesignClub Award for the French Cultural Building of the Year in 2018. In addition to practice, Cianchetta has taught architecture and urban design at Cornell University, University of Virginia, Columbia University, The Cooper Union, and The Berlage.
