BSc (Surveying) students win Gold Prize in the 2010 Hong Kong RFID Awards Competition

BSc (Surveying) students win Gold Prize in the 2010 Hong Kong RFID Awards Competition

A group of current Year Three BSc (Surveying) students in the Department of Real Estate and Construction won a Gold Prize in the 2010 Hong Kong RFID Awards Competition. The competition was open to all universities in Hong Kong. The team, comprising of Martin Tam, Alvin Leung, Kelf Chan, and Stephanie Au, won the award for their innovative application of RFID technology in construction site safety, which was based on ideas from one of their year two Surveying Studio projects designed and facilitated by Dr Wilson Lu. The students will attend the HK Smart City+ Award presentation ceremony to be held in October, 2010 in Shanghai as well as another ceremony and sharing sessions later in Hong Kong.

Professor Ralph Lerner, Dr Lynne DiStefano, Dr Ho-Yin Lee and Ms Claudia Juhre are presenting a paper on 2 December 2009 at the 2nd UNESCO-ICCROM Asian Academy for Heritage Management Conference, “Urban Heritage and Tourism”; 1-3 December 2009, at the Heritage Studies Centre, Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao.

BAAS Year 3 student wins 2009 JAD International Design Competition

BAAS Year 3 student wins 2009 JAD International Design Competition

Stella Chenyi Shen, a student of BAAS Year 3 at the Department of Architecture and two other students from Shanghai Jiaotong University jointly won the Special Section at the 2009 JAD International Design Competition for their project titled Enflosure. The theme for this year’s competition was Soft Space.

Student Teams Win Design Competition

Student Teams Win Design Competition

Students of the Architectural Conservation Programme (ACP) offered by the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong won a design competition to revitalize the fishing village of Tai O. The competition was organized by the Hong Kong Government’s Development Bureau and the ideas from this winning competition scheme will be incorporated in a $600 million project to conserve and revitalize Tai O.

Ms Fanny Ang and her team won the First Prize in the competition while Ms Euphen Wong and her team won the Award of Merit.
