The University of Hong Kong is Asia’s global university – and a global university requires a Faculty of Architecture with an equally broad outlook. Through the HKUrbanLabs, the Faculty is conducting interdisciplinary research on some of the world’s most pressing urban issues, with the goal of creating cities that are better planned, designed and governed. The lab’s base in Hong Kong gives it a unique window into one of the world’s cities with the highest density, but its scholarly reach extends around the world, touching on universal topics such as sustainable density, cutting-edge fabrication and material technologies, urban ecologies, human health, culture and more. A global city is one whose perspective extends far beyond its boundaries; a global university does the same.
