Head of the Department Daniel Ho and staff conduct study on Residential Projects in Hong Kong
A study conducted by Daniel Ho, Head of the Department of Real Estate and Construction and Associate Professors H F Leung and Lawrence Lai found that nearly one in four private residential developments do not comply with Town Planning Board conditions. The study surveyed 82 major residential development projects in Hong Kong, of which 36 were completed. At present, there is no statutory enforcement of planning conditions if the conditions are not incorporated into a land lease. The study suggested the Government impose a fine on developers who fail to fulfill their responsibilities.
The findings of the study were widely reported in all major dailies including the South China morning Post, The China Daily (HK Edition), Oriental Daily News, The Sun, and Apple Daily, among others.
